What is included with emergency roof repair

  • Temporary tarping to stop the water

A heavy synthetic tarp, run over the ridge and held down with screwed wood strips. Bricks just slide off in the next gust.
  • Damage documented for your claim

We take time-stamped photos of each slope, the attic side and the debris, all before anything gets moved.
  • Former adjusters on staff

Our team has 30+ years of insurance claim experience. We'll meet your adjuster up on the roof and handle the supplement.
  • Limbs cleared off the roof

Fallen limbs come off before the tarp goes down. Patching around a branch is how you get a second leak.
  • Permanent repair, not just a patch

Owens Corning or GAF shingles, fresh decking wherever the wood got soaked, and a look from inside the attic for leaks.
  • Austin and San Antonio coverage

8 full crew teams covering both metros along I-35, Georgetown down to the South Side.

What Counts as a Roofing Emergency in Austin

A stain spreading across the bedroom ceiling. A live oak limb through the decking. Hail that punched holes in shingles that were already brittle, or a ridge cap peeled back by straight-line wind. If water or more weather is headed inside and can't wait for a normal estimate, you need emergency roof repair. A few lifted shingles with no leak under them? That can usually wait a week, and we'll say so.

Why does Austin get its own section? Because the metro has taken a serious hit every year since 2023. On September 24, 2023, hail up to four inches fell on Round Rock and north Austin, and the National Weather Service called it the most costly damage ever to hit the region. Baseball-sized hail returned on April 22, 2025, over Georgetown and east Round Rock. Then, five weeks later on May 28, 2025, a microburst tore a damage path of roughly ten miles from Hyde Park east past the airport, with a 77 mph gust measured at ABIA. The February 2023 ice storm had already taught everyone how heavy live oak limbs really are.

We got the same two calls after every one of them. "There's water coming in." "A tree's on my roof." Our storm damage roof repair crews work both metros. We set up the Austin line after homeowners in Austin, Round Rock and Pflugerville kept calling us on the same weekend.

Temporary Roof Tarping to Stop the Water

Let's be straight about timing. After a storm you call, and we tarp the open roof as soon as a crew can get to you. We don't promise a response time, and we don't run a round-the-clock dispatch line. Any roofer who swears he'll reach every roof in Travis County within two hours of a hailstorm is guessing. We'll give you a real window and show up inside it.

And a tarp isn't a repair. It buys time to file the claim and line up the permanent work. Put on right, it'll hold for weeks. Put on badly, it leaks worse than the hole underneath.

The way we do it isn't fancy:

  1. Walk the whole roof looking for every opening, not just the obvious one, since hail almost never hits once.
  2. Pull debris and loose shingles so the tarp sits flat on the deck.
  3. Lay a heavy synthetic tarp from below the damage, up and over the ridge, so water runs across it and not under it.
  4. Screw wood strips through the tarp edges into the decking. Bricks and sandbags blow off.
  5. Take time-stamped photos before and after for your insurance file.

Is a limb still lying up there? Our crew gets it off the roof first, because tarping around a branch never ends well. If the whole trunk is down across the house, a tree service has to cut it loose before anybody works underneath.

From the Tarp to Permanent Emergency Roof Repair

The tarp handles day one. Everything after that takes a little longer.

An estimator walks the entire roof, including slopes that looked fine from the street, and writes down what the permanent fix will take. Sometimes it's a straightforward roof repair, like a section of shingles, a new pipe boot or a patch of decking. Other times the hail beat up the whole roof so badly that repairing it would be throwing money away, and replacement is the honest call. Either way, you'll see the photos and hear which one we'd pick.

If a storm did this, the claim starts now too. Honestly, it's the part of the job we're best at. Our team brings 30+ years of insurance claim experience, and our in-house staff includes former insurance adjusters. We meet your adjuster on the roof, look at the damage together, and push the supplement when the first scope comes back light. Our insurance claims page covers all six steps, from the free estimate to recoverable depreciation. Yvette D. had a tree come down on her house, and her Google review says "they dealt with the insurance company so I didn't have to."

After that the crew returns, puts on Owens Corning or GAF shingles, swaps out any wet decking and takes the tarp away. Water that sat under old shingles for a few days can turn into a slow ceiling stain weeks later. So our roof leak repair team checks the attic before we call it finished. Marco P. summed up the pace we're after: "Came out for the estimate Friday, had a guy on site the next day!"

What to Do Before the Crew Arrives

A few things help. A couple really don't.

What helps: get furniture and electronics out from under the drip and put a bucket down. If the ceiling's bubbling, poke a small hole so the water drains out rather than pooling until the drywall gives. Photograph the ceiling, the yard, the hail piled on the patio, anything that'll carry a timestamp. Hang on to every receipt, the tarp included if you bought one yourself. Most policies expect you to prevent further damage, and adjusters typically reimburse a documented temporary repair.

What hurts: climbing up on a wet roof full of hail pocks. Also signing anything on the porch. After every big Austin storm, out-of-town crews knock on doors for two or three weeks and then disappear, and whoever signed on day one ends up chasing a dead phone number. Get the tarp on. Then give yourself a day to choose a company that'll still pick up in five years when the roof needs something. We've finished 2,800+ projects, and our owner has been roofing for 30 years. We'll be here.
