Roofing Bexar County with San Antonio crews

Bexar County runs from clay river bottoms to limestone ridges, and our crews work every part of it. Texas-RRR is a Bexar County roofing contractor based in San Antonio: veteran owned, 8 full crew teams, registered and insured, and an owner with 30 years of roofing experience. Below you'll find which permit desk you're dealing with, the hail and flood dates that matter, and a link to every city page we publish in the county.

The county covers 1,239.8 square miles, and elevation runs from about 400 feet along the river bottoms on the south side to 1,896 feet on the Hill Country ridges northwest of Helotes. That spread matters for roofs. Clay flats to the south heave and settle under a house, while shallow limestone to the north sheds rain so fast that creeks jump their banks within an hour. A roof in Converse and a roof in Shavano Park can face different weather on the same afternoon.

Bexar Appraisal District counted 788,256 parcels in 2025, and 699,052 of them were residential, spread across 91 taxing entities including 28 cities. That's a lot of roofs. We work in San Antonio, in the enclave cities of Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, Castle Hills and Shavano Park, along the northeast corridor through Converse, Universal City and Live Oak, and out on the Hill Country edge at Helotes. Our full service area runs from the San Antonio metro hub up the I-35 corridor to Austin.

Permits in Bexar County: One Stop, enclave desks and historic districts

Around here the permit question trips up more homeowners than the shingle question does. Inside San Antonio city limits, a re-roof with no change in pitch is an over-the-counter permit at the DSD One Stop, 1901 S. Alamo St. It needs proof of ownership and not much else, and we pull it ourselves.

The enclaves are different. Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, Castle Hills and Shavano Park each run their own permit desk with their own forms, and a San Antonio permit means nothing to them. We've learned each desk's habits and we file with the right one. In unincorporated Bexar County there's no city desk at all; call us and we'll confirm what, if anything, applies before the first bundle goes up the ladder.

Then there's historic review. The San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation and its Historic and Design Review Commission require a Certificate of Appropriateness for roofing changes in designated districts. That covers King William and Southtown and the tile and slate stock in Monte Vista. Plenty of roofers skip this step and hope nobody notices. We don't.

Hail, wind and flood: the Bexar County storm record

Bexar County sits in one hail belt and in Flash Flood Alley at the same time. The hail record is the long one. On April 12, 2016, stones up to 4.5 inches fell on Helotes and the northwest side while the same storm dropped baseball hail on northeast Bexar through Converse, Universal City and Live Oak; it was the costliest hail event in Texas history at the time. On April 28, 2021, baseball hail landed near Zarzamora and Saunders on the west side. June 11 and 12, 2025 brought 60 mph gusts and quarter-size hail to northwest Bexar along with the flooding, and July 2026 storms left tornado damage on the northwest side. Our hail damage roof repair in Bexar County page explains how we chalk and document a hit roof.

Now the flooding. San Antonio Report counted 15 flood deaths in 2025 from the June 12 and August 31 storms, more than the 11 lost in the 1998 Great Flood, and 75 percent of that summer's rain fell on just two days. Shallow soil over limestone absorbs almost nothing, so creeks rise in minutes. On a roof, that shows up as wind-driven rain at the gutter overflows and soaked decking under the valleys. It also means insurance claims in Bexar County that combine wind, hail and water in one file. Our in-house staff includes former insurance adjusters with 30+ years of claim experience, and they'd rather meet your adjuster on the roof than argue by email.

Roof repair, roof replacement and commercial roofing across the county

Start with age. Roofs replaced after the 2016 storm are closing in on a decade old, and the 2021 swath put a second round of bruising on many of them. Roof repair across Bexar County starts with a free inspection and a straight answer about whether you're looking at a patch or a claim.

In Converse, Live Oak and Universal City the talk turns to replacement, because 1990s to 2010s builder-grade shingles are aging out together there, and the enclaves carry clay tile and slate that have to be matched, not swapped. We install Owens Corning and GAF shingles and we handle tile and metal profiles too. See roof replacement in Bexar County for how a tear-off day runs.

With 28 cities in the county, there's no shortage of flat and low-slope roof on strip centers, HOA facilities and office buildings. Our commercial roofing for Bexar County covers TPO, modified bitumen and metal. Marco P. wrote this after his job: "Came out for the estimate Friday, had a guy on site the next day! 100% satisfied with the quality of work." We'd like every review to read like that.

Live just over the county line? Comal County, Guadalupe County and Medina County each have their own page, since the permit map and storm record change once you cross over. Call Charlie Carreon, our owner, at (210) 802-6906 for a free estimate anywhere in Bexar County.
