Two Comal Counties, One Escarpment
Comal County changes character at the Balcones Escarpment just west of I-35, and so does the roofing work on either side of it. West of the line you get rocky Hill Country hills and canyons: acreage homes around Bulverde and Spring Branch, lake houses ringing Canyon Lake, long gravel driveways and roofs you can see from a mile off. East of it the ground flattens into plains grassland, and that's where New Braunfels and Garden Ridge have been building subdivisions as fast as the county can approve plats.
That growth is the other thing a Comal County roofing contractor has to understand. Census estimates released September 15, 2024 ranked Comal the fourth-fastest-growing county in Texas, up 5.03 percent from 184,642 residents in 2022 to 193,928 in 2023. The pace has cooled a little since. The county added 7,637 people in 2024 and 7,680 in 2025, growth of 3.9 and 3.8 percent, which slipped it to eighth statewide per an April 2026 Herald-Zeitung report. Still thousands of new roofs a year. And in our experience, roofs that go on in a hurry are the ones that leak first.
Texas-RRR works both sides of the escarpment. We're based in San Antonio, and we send the same 8 full crew teams north on I-35 and US 281 that handle the rest of the San Antonio metro.
