Thin soil, high ground and a river with a long memory
Roofing in Bandera County starts with the ground and the river. The Texas State Historical Association places the county on the Edwards Plateau 25 miles northwest of San Antonio, with elevations from 1,200 to 2,300 feet and shallow alkaline soils over limy subsoils. Down in the valleys runs the Medina River, which hit an estimated 159,000 cubic feet per second at the USGS Bandera gage on July 5, 2002, a stage of 38.91 feet, in a flood that claimed 12 lives across central Texas.
Any roofing contractor in Bandera County has to plan around that ground and that river. So metal roofing gets the first section below, and repair and the storm damage a hard blow leaves behind come after it. Texas-RRR is based in San Antonio and works the county as part of our San Antonio metro service area, with 8 full crew teams and an owner who has spent 30 years on roofs.
