Twenty years of growth, one wave of roofs
Pflugerville went from 16,335 people at the 2000 census to 46,936 in 2010 and 65,191 in 2020, living in 23,087 households. A city that adds almost 49,000 residents in two decades adds thousands of roofs in the same window. Roofs that go on together tend to wear out together, and that's the honest pitch for a roofing company in Pflugerville: a big share of the town is reaching the same point in its roof life at the same time.
Some context on how fast that happened. Pflugerville voted to incorporate on July 24, 1965, by a count of 60 to 42, on land first settled by German immigrant Henry Pfluger Sr. starting in 1849. Lake Pflugerville, the city's only body of water, was not created until 2005. About three miles of SH 130 run through town, and the tollway system that includes SH 130 and SH 45 opened in November 2006. The lake and the tollway are both younger than a lot of the roofs in town are old.
