Universal City roofing starts with a permit

Even a minor roof repair needs a permit in Universal City. The city requires one for all roof projects, requires roofing companies to register with it, and holds homeowners who pull their own permit 100 percent responsible. Read that last part twice before you file one yourself. Texas-RRR, a roofing company based in San Antonio, builds that filing into every Universal City job we quote.

The self-styled Gateway to Randolph AFB was first platted on January 30, 1931, and incorporated on April 20, 1960. By 2020 it counted 19,720 residents in 8,427 housing units along the Pat Booker Road corridor.

What the re-roofing bulletin requires

Universal City's re-roofing bulletin is specific. Its rules kick in at one square (100 square feet) or more. Replacements come off down to the deck, every layer. Asphalt shingle roofs get drip edge, and replacement decking is 5/8 inch under the 2021 IRC. Honestly, we like these rules. They describe how we'd build the roof anyway.

For a small leak, a roof repair in Universal City still gets filed. For a worn-out field, a roof replacement means full tear-off, new drip edge and any rotted decking swapped for 5/8 inch sheets, finished in Owens Corning or GAF shingles. With the roof open, it's also the right moment to plan gutter installation, since new drip edge and new gutters should meet cleanly.

Hail, inspections and claims in Universal City

Hail is the other reason people call. The April 2016 storm dropped baseball-size hail across northeast Bexar, and plenty of roofs in this part of the county have had a decade of sun since then. If yours came through that storm and nobody has been on it since, book a free inspection. It costs you nothing but an hour. Our in-house staff includes former insurance adjusters, so if we find damage, we can show you what a claim would need.

We also work in Converse and Live Oak, plus San Antonio and the rest of Bexar County. Free estimates at (210) 802-6906.
