Why a San Antonio Roofing Company Has to Know Hail

Ask anybody on the northwest side about April 12, 2016. That storm caused about 1.36 billion dollars in insurance losses and dropped stones up to 4.5 inches in Helotes, the costliest hail event in Texas history at the time. Five years later, the April 28 to May 1, 2021 outbreak set the Texas record with a 6.4-inch hailstone in Hondo, then split into one cell toward Boerne and another that ran through San Antonio east along I-10 toward Seguin.

Between them, those two storms hit at least three of our eight counties. That's the practical reason to hire a local roofer. We already know which neighborhoods sat under which path before we ever set a ladder. Our crews handle hail damage roof repair in San Antonio and the suburbs, and our in-house former adjusters walk you through the San Antonio roof insurance claim from inspection to the final check.

Eight Counties, Eight Different Roofs

Leave Loop 410 in any direction and the ground changes fast. So does what a roof has to put up with.

  • Bexar County is home base: the city of San Antonio, Alamo Heights, Helotes and the enclave cities.
  • Comal County splits along the Balcones Escarpment just west of I-35. Canyons on one side, plains on the other.
  • Part of Guadalupe County sits on Blackland Prairie clay, the kind that cracks open for months in a dry year.
  • Kendall County climbs onto the Edwards Plateau around Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch.
  • Medina County took a 34-mile supercell on April 28, 2021, from near D'Hanis to east of Castroville.
  • Wilson County is flat, loamy acreage, and on unincorporated land it's the county that permits development, not a city.
  • South of Bexar, around Pleasanton, Atascosa County is ranch and oilfield country.
  • Bandera County has thin Hill Country soil, and the Medina River there has flooded more than once.

Northbound on I-35

Our San Antonio line doesn't stop at the metro edge. Drive north on I-35 and you reach New Braunfels at about 32 road miles, San Marcos at 48, Kyle at 58 and Buda at 64. New Braunfels belongs to this metro. San Marcos, Kyle and Buda fall under our Austin metro service area, but homeowners there can call (210) 802-6906 just as easily as the Austin line.

Honestly, the corridor is where the two halves of our map meet. The same crews work both ends of it.

What You Get From Texas-RRR

Storm chasers knock on doors for a few weeks after a big hail day, then they're gone. Texas-RRR runs 8 full crew teams across the metro, and many of those crews have worked side by side with us for over 20 years. We've completed more than 2,800 projects, and Charlie Carreon, our owner, leads the team.

We install Owens Corning and GAF shingles, both American brands, and we handle roof repair in San Antonio as readily as a full roof replacement. Estimates are free. Office hours run Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registered and insured.

Joe L. put it simply in his review: "Amazing company. My family and I always appreciate their attention to detail and customer service. Thank you."
