One City, Three Counties

Schertz straddles the Bexar and Guadalupe county line on FM 78, about two miles southeast of I-35, and by 1990 it had spread into Comal County as well. The growth curve tells you about the houses. Texas Almanac figures put Schertz at 18,694 residents in 2000, 31,465 in 2010 and 42,002 in 2020.

Homes from that run make up most of what we see here, and the earliest of them have been through a lot of Texas summers. Whichever county sends your tax bill, the City of Schertz sets the building rules inside city limits.

What a Schertz Permit Covers

The city's Building Permits page lists roofing installation or replacement, siding, soffit and fascia, and new fences among projects that require a permit. Schertz enforces the 2018 International Residential Code. It exempts replacement fences built in the same location, height and materials, and it requires permits for any work in floodplain hazard areas. Siding on that list surprises people. If hail cracked your siding along with the shingles, that repair needs a permit too. The Inspections Division at 1400 Schertz Parkway, Building 1 (210-619-1750) runs a Virtual Inspection Program and an online Permit Fee Estimator.

We won't start a roof replacement in Schertz without that permit in hand. It keeps the job on record, and that record helps you when it's time to sell.

Hail Warnings With Randolph in the Text

The National Weather Service office for Austin and San Antonio put Schertz and Randolph AFB by name in a severe thunderstorm warning on April 30, 2025. The forecast called for half-dollar hail and gusts near 60 mph, enough to damage roofs and siding.

Some roofs come out of a storm like that needing a few shingles and new flashing. Roof repair in Schertz takes care of those. Others have bruised shingles on every slope, and that is a claim. Our in-house former insurance adjusters meet your carrier's adjuster on the roof, so your Schertz hail damage insurance claim rests on photos and measurements instead of a guess.

We cover the rest of Guadalupe County, including Cibolo roofing next door and Seguin out on I-10. Veteran owned, 30+ years of insurance claim experience, registered and insured.
