Round Rock still measures storms against March 21, 2022
Just before 6 p.m. on March 21, 2022, a tornado touched down southwest of the I-35 and SH 45 interchange and stripped roofs off Windy Terrace in minutes. The National Weather Service followed it for 29 miles toward Granger. It reached EF2 as it tore through Windy Terrace and Greenlawn Place.
The city's six-month review counted more than 680 homes affected and more than 32 million dollars in damage. Then the hail came. On September 24, 2023, stones up to 4 inches fell on Round Rock in a storm the NWS put at roughly 600 million dollars, split about evenly between Williamson and Travis counties. East Round Rock took another round of hail on April 22, 2025.
Three big hits in about three years. If nobody has walked your roof since one of them, start there.
